Hi I am planning on using moodle as a student/staff intranet. To create this do I just make a course then give the correct groups member of the course? I am also thinking when a user logs in to run a script to check if they are a student/staff then automatically redirect to the correct page. Any advise?

Thanks

Hi there.Various answers according to how they login. One way is to make a course "staff" and a course "students" and password protect them both - then with a csv file, upload all your users to the appropriate course as in:

username, password, firstname, lastname, email, course1 (where course1 is the shortname of the staff or student course) Then when they log in they get a link to just their course.

When logging in, if setup to do so, Moodle will display a list of courses they have access to. So for example for the Staff Moodle you might have a course for different departments, in which case you'd want to show them all available courses.
