Want to create tumbnails

Recently a teacher asked me if there is a way to access thumbnail sized images of his photos - currently he is using Word to produce a document containing pictures of Huff and Puf play equipment and pulling up the images has to resize each one to get it to fit the document. Irfanview Thumbnails? Or just use the batch tool in Irfanview itself.

I'm not 100% sure what he's trying to do but would this help? FastStone Image Viewer, Screen Capture, Photo Resizer ... It will batch resize photos to preset or custom sizes. It's the best free resizer I've found so far.

If you need a print out just put all the images in the same folder,select them all, right click on them and select print.

 

You'll get a wizard which will offer contact sheets.

 

If you want to resize the actual files; IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide is the tool you need.

I use this:

 

Batch Picture Resize

 

Brilliant little program, resizes based on the name of the executable and there is a filename generator on the page.

 

For example: PhotoResize140Q100.exe will resize any photos you drag and drop onto it to 140px (tall or wide, based on the longest edge) with 100 Quality.

I have now run the FastStone resizer nifty bit of software thanks for recommending it. Now made the images 25% but still on inserting them into Word have to mess about resizing them again?

It's the need to resize each one after bringing it into Word that the teacher wants to cut out.

But surely if the image files are the same size before you import them then they'll be the same size once imported. Experiment and find what file resolution renders the right size in word and then use on of the previous tools to batch resize all the files.

Worked it out - I needed to resize several times to get them down to thumbnail size. TVM all you folks who put me on the right track.
