tesh Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Hi, Just in the process of taking our RM CC3 netowork out and slowly introducing a VMware infrastructure. I`m upto the point were I need to deliver program shortcuts to machines/users. Before all the shortcuts were stored on the server. Whats the best way to create/deliver shortcuts on a vanilla network? Thanks
Guest TheLibrarian Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 We've rolled out XIALinks and are about to start using it in anger.
Guest TheLibrarian Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 The roll out is very easy - it's an .msi. All we have to do now is prepare the staff for the loss of desktop icons and start menu... As with XIAAutomation it's cheap, well supported by the developer and easy to use.
actech Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 If you are using Server 2008r2 you can create shortcuts via computer or users with Group Policy Preferences. That is how I give users shortcuts for server based applications and it is easy to di and works well.
tesh Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 At the moment no application are installed on my new servers, i`m assuming i`m gonna have to install my apps on the servers?
tesh Posted September 29, 2010 Author Posted September 29, 2010 When you say "just the menus and shortcuts" I manually create the shortcuts in the menus and point them to the installed dir on the workstation/s?
