alameals Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 One of our Sanyo PLC-XE40's has died, I know you have a support number but I'm wondering if it would be easier to post here for a solution. I'm pretty sure it is still under warranty. The projector boots up (lamp replace light is on) then switches back off after about 20 seconds. I've read a few reports here about the thermal switch but if it is under warranty then I'd rather not risk anything as it seems it is a bit of a tricky procedure. I have gave it a good clean as I can though. Serial No. is G7218833 Thanks Oh also we have tried another bulb to see if this would help but still does the same thing
cmssbrie Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Hi There, Unfortunately, we don't have access to that part of the system - the only thing I can really suggest is to contact Support on 0844 855 2201. If you quote the serial number, and advise them that you have already tried another lamp to no avail, they will be able to confirm if it is in warranty or not, and the next steps to get it fixed. Sorry I can't be more help!
alameals Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 Rang this morning and it just out of warranty. Was told it needs a deap clean, does anyone know of people in the North West area of England that can provide this service?
alameals Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 It's all good. I took it apart after reading about the thermal switch, did that and now it is running fine. This forum is a lifesaver (and pretty much a big cash saver) Thanks
cmssbrie Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Glad you managed to get it sorted! - You may find though that it could go again if there is a build up of dust inside the unit - if it starts going pretty regularly, it might be worth considering the internal clean of the projector that support advised. Good luck with it!
elsiegee40 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 I failed to find a cost-effective deep cleaner for our Sanyos (aged 3-5 years ) You may find your LA offers a service, I believe KCC's ICT team (EIS) does it. However we're an independent school so that doesn't help us. We're gradually replacing with Casio bulbless now.
