Just after the last pope died a woman at my last college really did try backing up the internet onto floppy (well, kind of. She was convinced "someone" was going to try and remove all references to him from the web so she decided to download everything about him onto floppies. It tool quite a while; not quite sure what happened to her project in the end!)
