Dos_Box Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I see one of the ads on the site today shows that PC World are offering a £50 trade in against any laptop, PC or Netbook for your old laptop. I have an old Celeron 1.2 jobbie sat in the cupboard at work I may just get rid of against their cheapest deal!! Click on the PC World ad for more details.
Chris_ Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 That's pretty good. I noticed on the RM site you can save £75 on an RM One if you trade in an old PC, I can't find any information about what they won't accept as I'm pretty sure there's a few 486 PC's hiding around the school...
AyatollahPies Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 I'd read the small print. I believe it's up to £50 off. I stand to be corrected though.
tech_guy Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 It's £50 off a working machine with no major damage to screen, keyboard, or hinges. I know because I was one of the lucky few at the end of August who thanks to hotukdeals.com found out about the offer on the Samsung R530 at Currys (part of the same company as PC World) - it was £200 off the RRP of £550 along with £50 off for the trade-in, plus 4% cashback via Quidco. The R530 sold out in a matter of hours once it was on hotukdeals. I got the last one in Warwickshire I think. So, I've ended up paying £280-odd for a cracking laptop. The machine I traded in was a ten-year old Asus Notino with Windows 98 and so many bad sectors I kept my fingers crossed as they booted it up in the store!
john Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Interesting find, wonder if I can trade a few old but working units in as I've got a pile building up nicely in a cupboard....
OutToLunch Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 I have a Windows 3.11 'laptop' that works perfectly wedged under my desk, wonder if I can convince them it's my day to day one
tech_guy Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Doesn't matter - it says any laptop so long as it is working and free from major damage. I'm waiting for another good offer to come up and them I'm taking one of these old goats in:
