CAM Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 It's back! Team17 have released the next Worms game on the PC over Steam. Had some interesting PC games so far (had a fun one with ZeroHour last night) but disable voice comms as it's horribly glitched. Anyone else got this game?
RabbieBurns Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Is it any good? I really liked the original Worms.. but as soon as they started making it all 3D and cartooney etc it really sucked.. I would love to get my hands on the original one again. Think the box is in the attic in a house in scotland somewhere
ZeroHour Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Its enhanced classic worms, I think it rocks. Its £18 odd on steam I think but I love it already.

mrbios Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 absolutely LOVE this game so much, had a couple of 4 player games so far, thoroughly enjoyable, steam is the biggest improvement the games ever had purely thanks to game invites
tom_newton Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 Hopefully it's good - a mate of mine is lead design on worms - built in Yorkshire! He's concerned that some of the cool new ideas won't work, but generally i think team17 are happy to go more 2d, feels like 3d may have been at the behest of the publishers...
ZeroHour Posted August 27, 2010 Posted August 27, 2010 all remember to sign up to the edugeek steam group Steam Community :: Group :: edugeek
RabbieBurns Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Is there any way to play without the timers? I don't remember the original game having a 30 second limit on moves did it? Ive only downloaded a 'demo' just now, but it seems to run OK on my celeron netbook..

I remember taking ages to sort out a shot, then running out of time and not being able to fire...
ICT_GUY Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Sound glitches on steam for voice comms can be solved by knocking the sample rate for recoding down to cd quality or less. DVD quality sounds like you are under water (vista and above).

Hmm.. maybe im remembering 2 player mode then.. I definately remember traversing on the nija rope from one side of the landscape to the other in order to launch a banana bomb... Does anyone know if theres a way to get the old version? (legitimately)
tom_newton Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 @RabbieBurns - I've lodged the timer question with my mate @ T17 - when he gets back to me i'll ask about older versions. I bet he's have responded quicker if i'd titled the email "Leeds united banter" rather than "worms". 1

tom_newton Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 @RabbieBurns - turns out my buddy is at home awaiting delivery of a sofa... but an alternative T17er provides the following insight: The max is 90 seconds....thats a good minute and 'arf!!! =)
OutToLunch Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 I've been very tempted by this but can't really justify it when I still have Worms 2/Armaggedon kicking round!! If you're a fan of the old school Worms games but short of cash, the current (free) version of Hedgewars is shaping up very nicely - killed a lot of time with it over the holidays. Hedgewars Looking at rolling it out to the IT rooms for lunchtimes
tommej Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) Somehow they manage to keep making worse and worse games since armageddon. What the hell is up with the giant menus, horrible lag and missing weapons? Clunky edior and only 4 player. Booo! I was hoping this would be so much better than the mess that was the xbox 360 release, been disapointed twice now . Edited September 17, 2010 by tommej
Butters Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I'm not sure whether it's my game or just me. All weapons seem to do minimal damage and literally take away 1-2 health with direct hits. Any ideas?
gizmo2005 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Have to say i Love worms its amazing game, ive found a game on FB which is very simular to worms its called Wild ones (im addicted Lol) wish they would remake a lemmings too
