Network - Windows 7

Hi all

 

I can't seem to find a definitive answer to this. I don't need to hide the network part of Windows 7 (although I guess that would solve this problem!) but I would like to stop them "searching" Active Directory. Is there a gpo I have missed that can block this?

I've done this for XP and 7.

 

Open up a GPO: User Conf --> Administrative Templates --> Desktop --> Active Directory

 

Here, set the Maximum size of AD searches to 0. This will return zero results for your users on computers, printers etc.

Hi Styart, I haven't as I have blocked any kind of network discovery so it is there but not functioning. If you do find a way let me know!

Just to ask, how did you diable the network discovery?

Did you use Computer Config ==> Admin Templates ==> Network ==> Link layer Topology Discovery ==> Turn on Mapper I/O?

Or another method?

You can disable it on the PC itself, under Network and Sharing, Advanced network and sharing. Not found a GPO for this though.
