Stupid Question probably with regards to installing software on 2008

I am coming up against a really annoying problem with Server 2008 but it is probably just me missing something.

 

When I am trying to install software from a network share I get the error 'Access denied' even though I am logged on as domain admin and can navigate to the share.

 

So

 

I copied the file and pasted in into a temp folder on the c drive of the server and tried to run it from there, error:

Can not access specified file - you may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

 

I have added my domain account to the security list for the exe giving myself Full Control and I get the same error, I even added my domain account as a local admin for the machine, same result.

 

It's bugging me now.

It's Internet Explorer. Completely maddening. You need to change the Security settings in IE, of all things, as it sees the network as an intranet location when trying to run executables. Change this behaviour, or add the network area as a Trusted site.

Couple of things, check there isn't an explicit 'Deny' for everyone on the application in the security settings.

 

Also, right click the app, click properties and see if there is a box marked 'unblock' this can mean it thinks the exe is from the internet and is trying to protect you from it

Unblock, sneaky little basts at MS, than guys.

but 3gs-tech is right, the cause of that is your security settings in IE.

 

So update those for a more permanent fix
