BClark Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Hello:D I was wondering if anyone can help me Its that time year again where its the end of term and everyone is watching movies in there classroom and we are getting sound problems:( When they play the DVD(on Windows Media Player) there is sound on the trailers but when they play the movie there is no sound:confused: then I try VLC player and it works fine Note:This only happens with some DVD does anyone have any idea??? Also if it helps we are using Windows 7 Enterprise Thank you
ICT_GUY Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Sounds like a codec issue, though could be the playback quality under sounds settings. vista was always set to DVD quality by default and this caused problems. My guess though is media player has a codec issue, try installing klite codec pack and see if the issue goes away.
Hightower Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 We have endless trouble with Windows Media Player and DVDs. It's a codec issue, but as we have PowerDVD installed everywhere we just tell the staff to load it in that (as they should anyway - Media Player wasn't designed for DVDs).

There may be other software licenses required in addition as there are other CODEC's installed that are not FOSS - however I have not had responses from any of the other companies.
