Just setup as server 2008 32bit terminal server and im having an issue....

 

I have the group policy for "do not remember last username" set but it keeps on remembering it rather than just showing the username and password box like it should

 

Are there any special steps to getting this to work on server 2008? it seems to be the only issue i have left before it's done and dusted.

 

Also i can't get the logon screen background to change from that horrible green colour, i've been using the logonUI regedit and oobe/info/backgrounds/xxxxxxxxxxx.jpg method on all my windows 7 boxes but here it doesn't work, any solutions?

Just incase anyone is interested i found a fix for this after looking at what feels like 200 google search links:

 

Here is what I have done to accomplish what you are looking to do.Open Server Manager >expand 'Roles' in the left hand pane >expand 'Terminal Services' >click on 'Terminal Services Configuration' >right-click on the specific connection entry under 'Connections' in the middle pane and select 'Properties' from the context menu (ex. RDP-tcp) >when the 'Properties' dialog box opens, select the 'Log on Settings' tab >select the 'Always use the following log on information:' option and leave the 'User name:' field blank, fill in the 'Domain:' field with your proper domain name, tick the option for 'Always prompt for password' and select 'OK' to save your settingsThe terminal server should now prompt users for a username and password when logging on.

 

Now i just want the background to change, is it at all possible in a terminal server?

background on logon screen or on desktop? if its the desktop couldnt you just use a gpo with loopback enabled?

 

logon screen i assume its like vista to do that you need tools which i believe break the eula

How to enable custom login background image in server 2008

 

According to the response on there, it isn't supported but can be done with third party tools such as using StarDock's logon studio.

Well that's absolutely pants, yep i was after the logon screen one, think i'll just leave it default then as i don't fancy using third party apps for something as small as that

 

Balls, why didn't they make a 32bit version of 2008R2

because i imagine ms are trying to standardise on x64 and i wouldnt be surprised if windows 8 was x64 only as they then dont have to duplicate the effort or coding
