WDS services fails to start

Hi

 

Has anyone had this problem before, we have a server with 2008 on WDS has been installed and MDT2010 installed and working on it.

We got the server presetup and i dont have full control of it. I tried removing wds restarting server and adding it back on but i just got the same error.

Will post the error message when back at work but wondered if someone may of had the same problem.

I'm pretty sure that I had this too, Tom, a couple of weeks ago.

 

Never could get MDT to work with WDS. Re-installed WDS, and it runs like a dream for us.

I removed it and reinstalled. Still get the same problem, have no idea now.

 

getting a new error

error id 513

An error occurred while trying to initialize provider WdsImgSrv from C:\Windows\system32\WdsImgSrv.dll. Windows Deployment Services server will be shutdown.

have you tried manually restating the service setting it to delayed start. I did have issues with it in one school but unfortunately i cant for teh life of me remeber how i fixed it

I have tried that an same error came up, this is annoying me now, sick of having to install by cd.

I had this problem just last week and what I did was reinstall WDS in a different folder rather than use the folder I wanted to and it worked. It was a real shame as I lost all my driver injections as we are running the R2 version.So I had to reinput all this in again.

I cant actually start the WDS service to point to a specific folder.

I figured how to get the service, i needed to be loggon on the domain on the server, as an admin, as we have tightened security i had to add myself as a local admin, service started but having issue booting from pxe now on the machine, it gets an IP but get the message no bootfilename recieved.

is wds on the dhcp server and if so did you tick the option 60/67 boxes on install? or if its not a dhcp server are you sure they were unticked?

we have a seperate dhcp server, which is non microsoft so i wasnt sure what to tick or untick.

i think then they need to be unticked might be worth quickly setting up dchp on that server temporarily and trying see if it help at least it eliminates a potential problem

I wont be able to set one up, as it would conflict with the current dhcp.

wait till theres no one around and yank the lead from your normal one should only take 5 mins

Lol, our dhcp is in a department higher up which i dont have access to.

I dont have any access or control of our dhcp, i guess i will have to get in touch above.
