Dos_Box Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 It seems Apple want to say something to all of you iPhone 4 users out there: BBC News - Apple plans surprise briefing on iPhone 4 antenna issue 'Sorry', perhaps?
tech_guy Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 No, it's probably more along the lines of, "So long, suckerz, we've got your ca$h!".... 2
pscott Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 The will recall the iphone, and then you'll have to pay full price for the replacement as demand is so high!
tech_guy Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 More likely a free rubber glove and a pair of flip-flops?
mattx Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) What's the saying ? - 'Style Over Substance' The manner in which an argument (or arguer) is presented is taken to affect the likelihood that the conclusion is true which is, the product is kak. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_teiZk-aADB4/Sg8ZViSyiZI/AAAAAAAAAdQ/O4JKMD54jLg/s400/iphone+cartoon.jpg Edited July 16, 2010 by mattx
webman Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 (edited) Ric_: Lol I'd imagine it's going to be more along the lines of "We want to help you make the most of our gorgeous iPhone 4. And that is why we're offering you an exclusive 5% discount on our fantastic bumpers, only for our iPhone 4 customers. Our bumpers are sexy and make your iPhone 4 look even more amazing. They feel good too. We've spent a long time designing these and now we're ready to make your iPhone experience even better. But that's not all. {audience woo-ing} We're also releasing another software update to make the signal bars more easy to understand. The signal strength indicator will be reduced to a single bar. We think this makes it a lot clearer. We pioneered a single-button mouse, and now we;re leading the way with smartphone signal indicators. It's brilliant." Edited July 16, 2010 by webman 4
ICT_GUY Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 All these problems that don't exist might be fixed in iphone 5, at which time we will fix iphone 4 by making it slower with an os downgrade. You will buy it anyway because you have teh dumb and like shiny new things.
Hightower Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Thing is, Jackson had the right idea decades ago and you all laughed at him. Not be long till you iPhone 4 users are going to be sporting the same wear as he did! 1

flyinghaggis Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 New article on theregister suggesting that there may not be a recall and that a software update could resolve the issue (again!)? iPhone 4 fix to centre on software, negate need for recall ? reghardware
TechMonkey Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 So would it be too cynical to think the software fix will just be a lying version of the current bar indicator?
ICT_GUY Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 So would it be too cynical to think the software fix will just be a lying version of the current bar indicator? That is exactly what it is, which begs the question "How stupid does Apple think its customers actually are".
creese Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 That is exactly what it is, which begs the question "How stupid does Apple think its customers actually are". As stupid as they actually are. Why are people still buying these phones?
soveryapt Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I was messing with a mates iPhone 4 over the weekend and he showed me the signal thing, but then also showed me that even when the signal dropped on screen, he could still make calls / send texts / etc ..
Butters Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I have one without a silly bumper and the bars go up and down like yoyo's but it has never once cut out a call on me. Lovely little thing
somabc Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 So would it be too cynical to think the software fix will just be a lying version of the current bar indicator? No the current one lies. It shows 5 bars even when the signal is poor.

Lovely little thing It does happen, I can vouch for it, it all depends on the area you are at tbh as it has been proved to do just that.
tmcd35 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Well I have the iPhone 4 and I can re-create the signal drop fairly easily. It is really just a matter of shorting the two antenaes in week signal areas. I really do think Apple should be giving the bumpers away free and/or offering to coat the alluminum with a thin protective layer. The lying signal bar is a seperate issue they should have sent a software update down for by now! As for me, I bought a cheap £5 case from Hong Kong that is 1/5 the price of official bumper and IMHO 5X better. Of course not everyone wants a bumber/case for their phone which is why Apple should offer a free swapout to customers that want a working iPhone4 that can't be shorted so easily. As for the phone itself, bloody marvalous! Best phone I've ever had and you couldn't pay me enough to take mine away
creese Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 creese: Because they're shiny! Long gone are the days when people bought phones to make phone calls, now they buy to not make phone calls.
tmcd35 Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Long gone are the days when people bought phones to make phone calls, now they buy to not make phone calls. LOL, you jest - but I can actually count the number of calls I make/recieve in a month on 1 hand. SMS, e-mail and Facebook messages on the other hand... The evolving world of human communications eh?
