Aldi air pump

Would anyone know if this air pump would be suitable for cleaning projector filters and/or laptop/desktop fan/grilles, or is it not powerful enough/likely to spray a fine oil mist?

Its a 100psi compressor so with a nozzle on should be ok.

Absolutely not.

 

Small pumps like this produce high pressure air in incredibly small volumes.

 

It delivers 7 litres a minute, a small air compressor will deliver 176 litres a minute but even this will need you to charge the reservoir for 20 seconds or more before you get a decent air flow.

But wou;ld it work for just blowing dust from filters etc, nothing major. Could be more cost effective than buying cans of air which is what point I'm at now.

I use a Giottos rocket blower.

Absolutely and categorically not, blowing throw a straw would work better.

That air pump just doesn't generate a bigger volume of air to blow out dust, it is designed to blow up inflatables footballs etc...

i used one for a while - if you hold it about 5cm away its quite good lol... instead i bought a nice powerful compressor off screwfix!

For those looking for something to blow out dust etc, I did have a look at this item - it doesn't even seem to be recommended for car tyres. What I did find, and I suspect most of you can access one of these, was that in the PE cupboard there was a small compressor for inflating balls and the like. The one I experimented with did 50l/minute (compared to the 7 the Aldi one does). It wasn't hugely powerful, but I tested it on a projector filter and a dusty processor radiator and it did the job albeit slowly. (Though perhaps it's for the best that it wasn't overly powerful).

 

I can recommend the ceramic knives Aldi have in, though.

Just be careful where you blow. We used a compressor, and had the "crazy idea", to blow around the filter access hole in a projector.. follwed being a thin film of dust over all the mirrors and lens... :-(

 

We didnt use that again...
