Just noticed some icons on my home PC were not where I wanted them and thought I would rearrange them but...try as I may I can't seem to move them! Unticked, auto-arrange and arrange to grid, lock icons is not ticked, show desktop icons is ticked. I can hight light them, slect them with a box etc but not move them. When I try to it looks as if its going to move then just stays stuck in that position laughing at my feeble attempts to move it. The auto arrange did move them but now I just have them all at the left hand side and cant move any of them! Help!!!!!

We had this a few times on our XP boxes (without any idea what CAUSED the problem. Tch)..

We imported the following reg file.

If it's not XP, then you might be able to adapt it by exporting the same key from another PC with the same OS, and then import it on your broken one.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000010e-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
@="IDataObject"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000010e-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\NumMethods]
@="12"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface\{0000010e-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\ProxyStubClsid32]
@="{00000320-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00000320-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
@="oleprx32_PSFactoryBuffer"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00000320-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\InprocServer32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\ole32.dll"
"ThreadingModel"="Both"
