I forgot to mention that during our Denver trip last week, SmoothWall 'made us' gatecrash an awards ceremony where they were presented with a block of Lucite by Scholastic for being very good at something or other

It was here that Tom managed to drag the rather wonderful Ken Royal over to our table for a brief chat. Ken is something of a 'name' in the global educational IT industry and his site can be found here: The Educators' Royal Treatment |

It's well worth a good looking at as there some absolute gems in there, and we hope to be hearing more from Ken in the future.

Ken's mainly known in the states, where he is one of the pre-eminent bloggers in the education arena - a good "friend" for edugeek to have. Folk in the UK aren't as likely to have heard of him - but his blog is worth a read.

So, he's really a 'name' in the US education IT industry, not the global education IT industry then. You can't only be known to one country (even if it is the US) and suddenly be a 'global name'...

Given the scale of the education market in the US,we are small fry. What was surprising abut the ISTE show was that there are so many companies you had either never heard of or had heard of but never seen exhibiting there that once you'd looked into them, even a tiny bit, then you began to realise that should hey ever turn their attention to the european markets they would simply steam roller all of the domestic competition.

To be fair I know of him so that means must be international by definition of course always going to be known more in his own country...
