tmcd35 Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Hi guys, I need a cheap (or free) SSL Certificate for our SIMS Learning Gateway server. Anyone got any good recommendations. I can't seem to get any of the links in some of the old threads on this to work. Thanks.
Domino Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Single domain ssl certs are $16.49 at godaddy.com at the mo If you need more than one, then the second is half of that too... SSL Certificates - Secure Your Data & Transactions 1
tmcd35 Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 I looked at StartSSL and got an e-mail back from them basically saying the free Cert is for personal use. I tried GoDaddy from a google search and couldn't get the website to open - I kept getting a redirect to 'rsssearch', strange. That said your link seems to work Domino so I'll give it another gander now.

ronanian Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 It's not the cheapest for a single domain, but DigiCert makes things really easy for me. Also, they have a wildcard certificate that's valid for all my hosts/subdomains. I bought one and use it for webmail, intranet, our main web site, etc.
tmcd35 Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 £85 for 5years is not bad and they accept cheques. GoDaddy looks like a winner! thanks guys.
powdarrmonkey Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 StartSSL are excellent. You verify you, not the site, for a yearly fee, and then you can issue unlimited certificates, either with alt-subject names or wildcards, through the lifetime of your subscription (when I signed up it was £20 to get the personal certification and then a further £20 to verify your organisation, in this case a school).
davipton Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 we used these guys Cheap SSL Certificates - RapidSSL® only £13.40 And RapidSSL® Wildcard only £100.00. Issued Instantly, Fully Functional. (UK) All done in about 15 minutes. very cheap, and all documentation on how to get the information they need for most web servers.
nickbro Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 If you can get a StartSSL cert, get it. It's free, and the StartCom CA is supported by MS. Otherwise, Buy GeoTrust® and VeriSign® SSL Certificates At Cheaper Prices. RapidSSL® From £13.40 - Free Trial Available (UK) is a good one. They support getting SSL certs for bla.school.lea.sch.uk O and the rapid SSL certs are £13.40 atm
Jamman960 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I've started using GlobeSSL - £15.98 for 2 years(with discount code 'Saleoff'($4 discount)). They are having some technical issues at the moment though... as I found out when I ordered a new one for our webmail subdomain argh! it worked perfectly when I ordered one for out RD Gateway subdomain back in april. I previously ordered from Godaddy but they've hiked up the price upon renewal. James
matt40k Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Don't know if this helps: StartSSL Sorry the thread zombie, but... http://www.edugeek.net/forums/security/183471-startcom-certificates-being-revoked.html#post1568907 1
