andymacfarlane Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Hi, I have been doing some investigation in to porducts like this to install on our RM CC4 network, I am really impressed with this and can't wait to get my teath in to it. However I am being a complete idiot, how do I install it is there any instructions? Does it go on the the RM FRDC or a vanilla server within the domain? Cheers, Andy
sister_annex Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Installation instructions are here Home Access Plus+, as we are a vanilla 2003 network I would not know the answers to your RM specific question but the videos etc on that site may help Mark 1
andymacfarlane Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Ah Cheers Mark Out of interest it says to download the MSI but from that site the download is a Zip and is not a windows installer?!? Andy
sister_annex Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 AKAIK there is no fixed installer for HAP due to the numerous config changes that have to made to make it work. The ZIP files will contain all the files you need to get started Mark
andymacfarlane Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Cheers, Mark I am just in the process of having a play with it. Thanks, Andy
Hawes29 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Hi I can’t seem to get HAP to read NTFS permissions on shared drives. I also get the following error when selecting a folder. Error: Unauthorised Access You have attempted to access a restricted resource Go BACK I even get this error as a domain admin. I have seen this before on the forum and tried adding the hap server to the file server, but this didn’t work. I also can’t seem to get Logon tracker working. Any help would be greatly appreciated
gl3nnym Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Can HAP access shares on different servers? Sorry, let me explain. I have HAP setup on sr1 and have shares on this server that can be accessed through HAP quite happily. I have added a shortcut to a share on another server but HAP cannot see the shortcut. I have used DFS to route a folder to another server but HAP gives me a "Network location cannot be accessed" error. Any advice greatly appreciated :-)

Any help would be greatly appreciated This usually tends to be an issue with your impersonation level and the groups that have access to the HAP system you may need to find this: and change 'CHS Easylink' to 'Domain users' or something similar Can HAP access shares on different servers? Hawes29 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Sister_annex Thank you for a quick reply; I have domain users in the allowed roles, as you can see below. If you could suggest anything else I would be very grateful Cheers

If you could suggest anything else I would be very grateful Cheers May be worth checking the following lines in the UNC section: where it states enablereadto and enablewriteto these need to be set to existing groups or in this case All - which will allow access to these particular shares
gl3nnym Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 @sister_annex Should have tried that really. Thanks for the reply, it worked :-)
sister_annex Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 @sister_annex Should have tried that really. Thanks for the reply, it worked :-) No worries
Hawes29 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Sister_annex Thanks again for a quick reply my documents is working ok, its other mapped drives. Cheers
nickbro Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 Hi Sister_annex Thanks again for a quick reply my documents is working ok, its other mapped drives. Cheers What errors is HAP+ giving you when you use the other drive letters? Have you tried the FQDN (i.e. server.domain)?
gl3nnym Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hmm, just tried the upgrade to 5.4.5 and getting the following "Object reference not set to an instance of an object": Stack Trace: [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] HAP.Web.Default.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) +1043 System.Web.Util.CalliHelper.EventArgFunctionCaller(IntPtr fp, Object o, Object t, EventArgs e) +14 System.Web.Util.CalliEventHandlerDelegateProxy.Callback(Object sender, EventArgs e) +35 System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e) +91 System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() +74 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +2207
rpain Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hi - looks like great software and thanks for taking the time developing it. I've got to the point where I can login and I can 'Browse my school computer'. In the next page I see the two links to the folders I put in the web.config file but when I click on one of them I'm taken to the link http://mycomputer/K (I set K as the drive letter) - obviously this won't work. If I click on the 'Enhanced View' link it goes to the address http://mycomputersl.aspx/ although if I replace it with the address http://mycomputersl.aspx/ http://server2:81/mycomputersl.aspx then it works and it shows up the drives on the left (I've set the port to 81 for the application and it's hosted on server2). I can navigate into the folders but when I click on one to view files in the main area it says resource can not be found. I'm fairly sure that having a different port is causing the problem but as we're running exchange and owa on the server I don't really want to potentially cause problems. Any ideas? Many thanks, Richard
Hawes29 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 HI sister_annex/nickbro Thanks for all the help so far, I can now login and access files, however I have 2 testing accounts, which are in the same groups with the same access and one works perfectly and the other receives an error. I have discovered that a home directory is needed in Active Directory; once a home folder was created for the user who was having access trouble, I could access all the files and folders on other shared drives. Great product and great support Thank You to all

Many thanks, Richard @rpain; can you post the unc paths section from your web.config file just so we can check. it is possibly nothing to do with this it may be more to do with iis but just incase... sister_annex Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Sure: Many thanks, Richard That looks fine! hmmm.... The only thing I can think of is there may be an issue with your IIS settings - possibly some URL rewriting going on or something like that. If possible could you configure HAP+ on another server and see what happens?

Sorry I know I am being a pain but teachers are getting on my case now... How good of them!
rpain Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Just tried it on our main server which wasn't doing anything critical and it works fine - great job!
rpain Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 OK - quick question. How do I change the year numbers? Instead of 7-13 we'd like KG,PP, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8
sister_annex Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Does anybody have an idea about the above? Sorry I know I am being a pain but teachers are getting on my case now... How good of them! This seems to me like there may be an issue with your web.config file (possibly!) as with the suggestion to rpain earlier, would you be able to do a fresh install on another server to check?
