andyturpie Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Good morning all, I'm having a spot of bother trying to create RM images from scratch for our CC3 network. I have tried to create a vanilla image and then talisman with the commisioning tools to convert. Somehow when doing this, even running the smartclient.bat the image will not connect to the domain. When I try the full RM procedure via the floppy drive, I cannot seem to get VM ware to pick up the physical network card, only the AMD Lance virtual card and no driver seems to want to run Is there a way around this? Regards, Andy Turpie
Theblacksheep Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I ripped a RM build PC with vmware converter. worked lovely.
Butuz Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 I've tried with VMWare converter and that works. I have also smart cliented a vanilla xp virtual machine and that works a treat too. I doubt you'll be able to get the full RM build process working using VMWare network drivers. Butuz
russdev Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Has been done but not done cc3 myself will digg for some details. Russ
nicklec Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I just used a build disk, had to dig up some really old 'amd' NIC driver for it to get an IP in 'DOS'.
sparkeh Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Best results I have had for CC3 VMs is to run the full build process in Vitualbox using the standard Intel NIC drivers which are on the standard RM build disk or Virtual PC. Never has much success with VMWare though.
andyturpie Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Thanks for all the ideas. You would think it would be easy to do, but hey that would be boring wouldn't it? lol @nicklec have you any idea which driver it was you used?
