SIMS - Migration to new Domain

We are making preperations to move away from our LEA altogether

 

What I need to know is how easy is it to remove the SIMS server from the LEA domain and add it to our own domain

 

Can we just disjoin/rejoin the server (either manually or via sysprep)?

 

I know SQL Server 2K is fine iwth Sysprep, but im worried about how well SIMS will handle it.

We took a ghost backup of the server, which was the only DC on the admin domain.

 

We then moved all workstations onto the curriculum domain so it was the only machine left on the admin domain. We demoted it ... then when we were sure that DNS, etc were removed and it was happy in a workgroup we added it to the curriculum domain.

 

We then set permissions on shares to include the relevant domain security groups and started SIMS ...

 

No problems at all ... not a single one.

Excellent - thanks Tony.. Will take a backup of SIMS anyway, but if there are no major issues in moving to a new domain then it makes things a lot easier!
