Hi all I use Joomla and know how to get visitors to login/create an account on a joomla website but once logged in, what do you guys provide to logged in users (students/teachers/visitors) that non logged in users cannot access?

I am struggling to think of anything useful in a school.

I don't provide logons for students just for teachers and govenors and I have staff room articles (basically how to edit articles and upload pictures etc in there) and some documents are only visible by teachers and govenors (such as the the critical incident plan)

regards

Simon

As SimpleSi says, you can use it for different groups to access documents; governors' & PTA minutes that sort of thing. Staff received a notice in our (electronic) bulletin this Friday saying how much the cost of A4 & A3 paper had risen recently, and to only print out what was absolutely essential.

yes but surely these are things you would put on your VLE rather than a school website?

I think this is a 'risk' with access groupds in Joomla, at what point does a website stop and a VLE begin?

Personally I gave access more news articles/pages, and content submission. VLE should be used for file uploading where the public doesn't need to see it.

Perhaps I should have added, "If you haven't got a VLE..."
