FN-GM Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Hi, Its safari v5 that has the problem not the update itself. There is another thread on here about it. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mac/57978-heads-up-safari-crash-network-users-do-not-install-safari-5-a.html
sidewinder Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Ah. I saw that original thread but didnt think much of it, then yesterday I had the problem on one mac. Reinstall was the only solution. Thankfully most others are either 10.6 or they already use firefox instead. Will advise people just in case though
Guest theeldergeek Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Ah. I saw that original thread but didnt think much of it, then yesterday I had the problem on one mac. Reinstall was the only solution. Thankfully most others are either 10.6 or they already use firefox instead. Will advise people just in case though There is a fix, which I can tell you did work for me, but I only applied it to my own machine as that was the only one I had fortunately updated, so not knowing your setup, I can't guarantee it will work for you. However, run terminal and type in : defaults write com.apple.Safari WebIconDatabaseEnabled -bool NO You should then find Safari will launch.
