SimpleSi Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I was going to take the opportunity to speak to ZH directly at the conf but obviously that didn't happen. I know things are going to be better in future BUT I WANT SOMETHING NOW!!!! (Will someone please pick up my rattle ) How about putting something on the front page that directly links to at least Today's Posts. I'd suggest it should go above the recent forum posts or about sections (or instead of) on the top left. Please please please do it before I turn 60 regards Simon
EduTech Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Add a Button to your favorites bar which is the link to "Todays Posts" and then just click on that everytime you want to go to edugeek
kmount Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Add a Button to your favorites bar which is the link to "Todays Posts" and then just click on that everytime you want to go to edugeek Where is this link? Or just use the tab "Whats New" which does the same job Are you sure? That link appears to show 'new posts' as opposed to Today's Posts which is what Si was after.
glennda Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Where is this link? i think he is talking about browser favorites rather then edugeek favourites which i think is what you are meaning
john Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Are you sure? That link appears to show 'new posts' as opposed to Today's Posts which is what Si was after. Ah true, but if he's a good geek he will read it daily anyway thus it will be todays posts Si just bookmark this link - Search Results - EduGeek.net Thats the link for Todays Posts:)
CSNM-Carl Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 In vBulletin v3 I'm pretty sure "Quick Links" used to have "Todays Posts".
SimpleSi Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 This is one of those things that can't be communicated via typed text There are many workarounds to the problem (my wiki mod for instance) but I can't get across that the problem needs fixing and not in 6 months time! Simon
p858snake Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Top of the forum, "Whats New" and "iSpy" (logged out from memory shows something similar called "Today's Posts")
EduTech Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Yeah that was the URL, although it does work to be honest because it uses a SearchID rather than an actual URL not sure how "brilliant" that would work. Understand there are many work arounds Si, and i am sure ZH will make some form of change to look after your age group (joke)
SimpleSi Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 http://www.edugeek.net/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription&folderid=all Search Results - EduGeek.net Sorted - all I need to do is write a prog to keep posting the above in a post every 2 mins and then I'll get my links on the front page Si
SimpleSi Posted June 5, 2010 Author Posted June 5, 2010 That doesn't work The links aren't don't seem to be clickable on the front page
markcuk Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 I think the whole layout on the front page needs a tweak its awful. everything on it seems so random really miss the old layout
