Hi,

We're planning on putting in a new music suite compromising of 21 iMacs and 4 Macbook Pros for the staff. These will be joined to the domain for authentication and open directory for policies etc.

Will the staff be able to log into the laptops when they arent onsite connected to our network like you can with windows laptops?

Thanks

Hi, yes they can you will need to go to the directory utility, services and edit the active directory service. In the advanced options section (hidden by default) you need to tick the "Create mobile account at login" option, from what I remember this creates a local cached profile on the laptop just like a windows pc documents and settings user profile which is persistent. You will then be able to login away from your domain however you will have to periodically reconnect to the domain to maintain this I believe.

Hi, many thanks for the reply.

Thats good news, they need to do lesson plans offsite using logic and if they couldnt login that might cause a few problems!
