Milesc1989 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Hello, I thought I would add another post because I know you guys are very helpful! Does anyone know where I can find Recovery Discs for Toshiba Equium L40-10x? I need to re-install the operating system which is Windows Vista Home. As I bought a new hard drive for it. Can I just use a normal Windows Vista Disc? Kind Regards, Miles
LeMarchand Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Does the old drive still work? If so, why not just clone it onto the new one? If you really want to reinstall, I thought all Vista discs carried pretty much the same data, but some may be "locked" to a particular version. This could be utter tosh, though!
andyturpie Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Yep tosh are recovery disks, which mean its a .wim image x file. This is a factory image system which then installs all the additional software. The disk can be sought from toshiba customer services for around £35.00 on providing your serial number. Every new laptop tells you that "you haven't created your recovery media, do you wish to do so now?" but everyone seems to do the "remind me later option" until its to late lol!
IanT Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Just find a Toshiba Vista OEM disk from ebay and do that, cheaper Toshiba laptops will come with the Recovery DVD's and Toshiba OS OEM Disk.
