beeswax Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 just logged on to the server to find this message - [scheduler][users: Contact details upload failed] anyone seen this? and if you have have you had a result? I've emailed RM as well.
Nij.UK Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I know this is nothing to do with your problem, But have u had the new updated software for this year come through yet? I thought that if you took part in the Pilot last year, that u was automatically approved for the tests this year.... or do i have to go through the audit once again. thanks
Ravening_Wolf Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 @beeswax - fundamentally the error messgae means that some of the data due to be sent to QCA/RM failed to upload correctly. This could be down to many things but in my experience is often due to temporary internet access problems. Keep an eye on the messages and see if this is a consistent problem - it may just be a one-off.

beeswax Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 had a reply from RM which runs as follows; Log into the APS Select Schools, Manage Internet Access Click on the run now link. This should remove the error. Will try in the morning when I get in to the ofice
russdev Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Just for peoles info the new software is being phased rooled out from this week so people will get it over few weekd.. Russ
mighty.grey.eagle Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Received e-mail notification about the upgraded software today. Oh joy.
Ric_ Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I know it's off topic... I contacted the lovely KS3 people the other week to see what was happening as I had heard nothing. I was told that I would receive the software in March!!! Despite being part of the thin client trial, RM have decided I am not worthy to receive the software yet :? Let's hope the extra months mean that the software might work properly this time!
CyberNerd Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I know it's off topic... I contacted the lovely KS3 people the other week to see what was happening as I had heard nothing. I was told that I would receive the software in March!!! Despite being part of the thin client trial, RM have decided I am not worthy to receive the software yet Confused Let's hope the extra months mean that the software might work properly this time! I get the impression they've done nothing about thin client other than drop or discourage thin client sites from their testing. They know the thin client version doesn't work as it causes 'performance issues' and have mailed me to this effect. RM want 100% success with this trial and don't want QCA knowing about any failures, as it will make the contract look bad - they already screwed up the cross platform requirement. I think this is particularly worrying because in the end RM will just say, well it works on eg cc3 and try to sell schools this option instead. I encourage you to speak directly with QCA on this, they may give RM a kick.
Ravening_Wolf Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 Pants. I didn't realise there was a special thin-client version. I had intended just to run the standard on one on our TS server... Denied.
russdev Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 right think client trail is behind main trail if look at rm website they advertise the thin trail.. Nature of product design the two have have different schedules... latest on dates can be found here at rm communities http://communities.rm.com/forums/posts.aspx?postID=25056 Russ
Guest PatBoland Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Out of interest is there the possibility of this pilot not being successful and we carry on as we are. Our school is gambling on this and we are not making any attempt to be involved despite my concerns. From what I see from you guys all does not seem well with this software package and surely there must be a lot of schools not up to speed. Interesting reading though, cheers
Ravening_Wolf Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 @ PatBoland - not a chance of this not going ahead. The Pilot is just an extending testing period (you know, they release substandard software, we waste weeks getting it running and then they repeat the process the following year). From 2008 the ICT KS3 onscreen testing will be statutory. This one will not be going away. UPDATE: Just logged into our DPS and seen that our 2007 update completed successfully yesterday afternoon.
beeswax Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 @ PatBoland - not a chance of this not going ahead. Better get used to the bite of the harness PatBoland and accept your place in the scheme of things. UPDATE: Just logged into our DPS and seen that our 2007 update completed successfully yesterday afternoon. Some of mine failed but RM were quick off the mark with a reply, Please try the 11.0.9 update download again using the following procedure: 1. Delete any text files found in the QCA Testing\Admin Point System\File_Store\Software folder. 2. Delete the failed downloaded zip file.* 3. Do 'Run Now' again. *there was no failed downloaded zip file, but it seemed to work anyway.
CyberNerd Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 ICT KS3 onscreen testing will be statutory. Absolutely, but the emphasis is going to be on the school getting it running by 2008, not on RM who don't even plan on having a pilot of thin client by march 2007 - a good way for RM to sell some more licenses/hardware IMO.
Ravening_Wolf Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 a good way for RM to sell some more licenses/hardware What a thing to say! I should hope you're ashamed of yourself for even thinking it! ROFL
Guest PatBoland Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Good to get your responses but if the SMT are not interested it is with them the responsibility and the buck stops. We do not have the hardware or infrastucture here so unless we are waiting on a lottery grant/win - but as a member of support staff I would be last to know...cheers guys I will keep telling them!!
