Anyone got a Ford Focus?

Does anyone has a Ford Focus with the original cd/radio player, with the built in 6 disc changer?

 

on saturday mine ate a cd and now shows CD error with 5 CDs inside and now i cant get them out or play a cd. does anyone know anyway i can reset it or is it a ford dealer job?

A common problem with these..

 

To be fixed the radio needs to have its power disconnected and reconnected. Some people recommend disconnecting battery but I don't fancy this with engine management systems and similar..

 

I pulled the fuse. 'Audio modules battery supply' or something similar. Pull, check that the radio has no power, replace. CD player then recognises it has CDs in and will eject them.

Disconnect the battery, it's not going to explode ffs lol

it does put the ecu back into learn mode though so the car can be rough for a while and if you dont drive far from home to work say it can take a long time to get back to normal

Really? I'm pretty sure the ECU is mapped to that car - why would it need to re-learn? New ECU's are clever enough to let you disconnect the battery without any trouble.

because every engine has its own minute differences to learn and it adjusts to driving style etc

A car is mapped to its performance and weight from factory - that's why if you have fast road cams installed you need it to be re-mapped to accommodate them. The ECU won't figure that out, and it will not figure out driving styles especially not on a Ford Focus.

before you go messing with the power supply for the radio make sure you have the unlock code to hand.

 

is it a mk 1 focus (pre 2004)?

Make sure you have the code to hand and then disconnect the battery.
