dhicks Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Anyone on here have any experience of managing a ubuntu network and if so how were things centralised and managed? I have a number of Ubuntu machines (server and workstations) on our network. Any automated tasks tend to be done with Python scripts via SSH - I make sure each machine has an authorised SSH key from a central amanagement machine, then I can get that central machine to execute commands on all the other machines. Software updates can be done with apt-get, of course, normally run via a daily cronjob, and the workstations do user authntication against our AD server via Samba or Likewise Open. -- David Hicks
webman Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Canonical Landscape looks good for more than a handful of Ubuntu machines. At the moment all of our Ubuntu servers are separate and unaware of eachother - no fancy scripts to tie things together synchronously.
