I'd go for making a big vinyl sticker and sticking it on myself, they should still, if its a project for school, get good marks for the design part of it

Im sure model paint in those little tins applied by brush followed by some clear laquer would do the job nicely OR print it off on A4 and pritt stick it to the lid I think that constitutes a pass
