tech_guy Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 I've used my LA provided email address and just noticed that my profile shows me at being at another school in the county...?! Software downloading okay and my students in D&T are going to love me tomorrow when I email them the link!
SYNACK Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Good find, secondary schools only by the looks of it though Doubt they'll check an ac address though
SYNACK Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 You're right I should have said secondary schools and up.
pritchardavid Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 gussing this wouldnt allows us to install it downstairs in our dt room, has we aint got it installed on any computers (This would be for 20 computers, thats it, we wouldnt install it anywhere else) gussing its for students to use at home?
tech_guy Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 What if you downloaded it 20 times each with its own key? I don't know tbh.
tech_guy Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Just found this: "Important Note: The Autodesk Student Version software incorporates all the functionality of our professional licenses, but includes a print banner making the software inappropriate for professional, commercial, or for-profit purposes. Autodesk Student Version software may not be used in the classroom or lab for instructional purposes, or for commercial or for-profit purposes. Annual licenses of Autodesk student software are not eligible for product upgrade or transfer to a commercial license." So it is for student personal use only.
pritchardavid Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 damn ah well, pointness giving students the links if we havent got the software installed in the dt classroom
tech_guy Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 We've got students who have outgrown the design 'software' that we have on our school computers and who I know will install this on their computers at home and run with it. I've just passed the site details on to a friend who works at the local uni and his students are now all frantically downloading what they need!
Dos_Box Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 @tech_guy You were so close to getting banned for spamming!!!!!!! I thought your account had been hijacked!

glennda Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Looks good, just sent a like to all the d & t staff at work, im sure that the servers will be very slow tomorrow night once they tell the kids!
AngryTechnician Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Spring 2009 called. They want their links back. 2
p858snake Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Although I dislike that you can't seem to download a ISO off them, you need to download that little installer that then downloads the application =( unless they changed that since i've used it.
p858snake Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 I've used my LA provided email address and just noticed that my profile shows me at being at another school in the county...?! ...snip... The first school that registered would of marked that domain, so yeah that is why that is happening.
tech_guy Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Gah, I'm knackered this morning - was up last night until the early hours tinkering with Maya - what a brilliant app!
creese Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Would love AutoCad for home use but no school email, just an LA one.
tech_guy Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 Would love AutoCad for home use but no school email, just an LA one. I used my LA one and it works.
creese Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) I used my LA one and it works. That'll teach me to assume. Ill have a go. Edit: Your registration email address did not match our database of known school email addresses. Your request will be reviewed by the Autodesk Education Community staff within 3 business days. JJonas Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Nice find. They didnt recognise my school email address so I am waiting for approval.
featured_spectre Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Yeah I got the same message creese, however it should be quicker. It just says within 3 days to allow for contingency.
tech_guy Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 With this offer, it's a yearly thing, apparently. Angrytechnician picked it up as well last year although I missed it then. Annoying because I've been making do with an old knackered version of CorelDraw and could have been using Maya all this time instead!
