Cue Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 unfortuantly they don't come back up again - we are using Linux KVM for virtualisation and they turn off on reboot but only xp machines do it! Use Scheduled Tasks to run the script?
glennda Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Use Scheduled Tasks to run the script? yes thats easy - but these are virtual machines running on KVM for virtuliseation and when they are instructed to reboot then just shutdown and have to be started manually. Its a problem with xp and the bios KVM uses.

TeamViewer 5 Unfortuantly this kind of this is blocked via our LEA - we have to have something running on port 80/443 as these are the only ports available to come in on. Toby

That doesn't work either as windows keeps the profiles locked after logoff. I have the terminal server setup now so they are no longer!

I have the terminal server setup now so they are no longer! well in case you do need to carry on with it, there is an msi available from M$ that stops the profiles being locked. can't remember the name though, XEN did the same with XP, it may be more do with XP's acpi stack, but having said that vmware manage it ok.

Yeah its becuase is uses the same bios (seabios). Just had to deploy the UPHCleaner as I think we have an app deployed which is writing to the Registry while windows is trying to logoff causeing corrupt profiles as have run out of reasons to why it is happening.

glennda Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 its the same tool as i have already deployed to the machines to try and stop the corrupting profiles! I think i have the terminal server setup now - just got to wait for the license keys from MS as still running the 120 days trial period!
