aneena Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 when we go to Focus | Examinations in Sims, we get the following error SIMS Examination Organiser Module Error validation Automation Error
bossman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 @aneena: Follow these instructions: 1. Run a Windows Update on the affected machine via Internet Explorer - Tools | Windows Update 2. Uninstall SIMS Infrastructure via Add/Remove Programs 3. Install SIMS Infrastructure by running e.g. S:\SIMS\SETUPS\SimsInfrastructureSetup.exe 4. Locate the SIMS .net folder and rename this to SIMSold. 5. Run SIMSApplicationSetup.exe This will do the job 3
aneena Posted May 14, 2010 Author Posted May 14, 2010 I am new to SIMS, please bear me thankyou so much, i'll try the solution and to add a note the support lady gave the solution like this: This is due to a framework error, please reinstall SIMS from the framework level is it anything to do with uninstall and reinstall sims.inst.(coz my colleage said me this???) or your solution and the solution given by the support same.....
pete Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 It's due to DCOM access in Exams Organiser - it needs to be upgraded (say via SIMSLoad.exe) by someone with Admin permissions or it won't upgrade correctly. So yeah - delete the c:\program files\sims\sims .net directory, reinstall SIMS on the client and fire up simsload.exe as an admin.
bossman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 @aneena: This is the solution provided by Capita; If you follow those instructions to the letter you will have a working Sims examinations module. How do I know, did it myself Tuesday this week after Sims update for my exams person. Don't worry if you have any questions just post or PM me regarding these instructions.
dezt Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I had the exact error earlier this week, I found uninstalling SIMS and reinstalling it worked for me.
