WSS 3.0 - How do you use it?

I have implemented WSS 3.0 recently and since yesterday I have no idea how it can be used and for what purpose. I was thinking something along the lines of it being like Moodle but, my question is, can it be like Moodle?

 

Does anyone have something already running that I can take a look at so that I can get some ideas? Or, quite simply, just some screenshots will help.

We use it for our Staff Intranet, Student Intranet, Capita Learning Gateway, just about everything. It is our main portal to everything.

same here - staff and students have taken too it really quickly and it is the umbrella where all of our services fit within - helpdesk, booking system, shared area, teaching resources, school policies, access to webmail, sims web parts etc.

Yep same here, its our intranet that links everything together like room bookings, news, ict support system, library system, website, training documents. The list goes on.

 

Staff love it as there is no sign in, and it is their homepage.

Out of interest what helpdesk system do you have integrated into it?

SharePoint is primarily a document/content storage system. Its made up of libraries and lists. These can be in sites. Added to this are webparts such as wikis, blogs, discussions and surveys. Believe it or not they are lists. Simple moodle can be used as the learning management part the same as slk or SharePoint LMS. Again they integrate into lists. I guess a definition of slk is lists with workflow!

Capita learning Gateway or Sims learning Gateway has no learning part ? It merely is a way for sims to have a web interface.
