Gatt Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Just checked WSUS and found the following updates available for XP: IE 7 for XP Windows Media Player 11 RDP Client v6 (Vista compatable) Have disabled WMP11 but let the other 2 go out.
alonebfg Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 be carefull lets hope they got ie7 right this time 3rd time lucky maybe ??
john Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 aah, thats why my machienes are showing WMP11 now to be installed, I hadn't had time to check the server today
contink Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Yep... seen that lot today too... Not too sure I want WMP 11 on there though.. Did notice that the original IE7 installs have been deprecated in favour of some new ones so I'm guessing they've had some problems.
MkII Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Some spaniards in the works apparently contink!!
contink Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Some spaniards in the works apparently contink!! Lordy I'm slow tonight.. Took me 5 minutes to get that.. "spaniards" ? eh? ... Hand me the wrench so I may provide myself with a clue stick experience... *sigh*
tobyhughes Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 i have been using IE7 on my pc for a couple of weeks now and half the sites do not work, i would stick with firefox or ie6 if I were you.
speckytecky Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I'd echo Toby's IE7 comment and add my notebook seems to pick up the wrong message when I click on an embedded URL nowadays, most often takes me to a folder but also the Windows Update from control panel is now dead!
john Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Quick urgent note on WMP11, our deploy refused to let anybody but an administrator open it for the first time as it has to run the WGA check and only an administrator can! EEK, but I found what I think was a way round it, in group policy you have an option to disable the first run type thing for the what do you want WMP to read etc options, I disabled that and the new WMP11 option that has appeared (or it could be enabled, but what ever it is, read it and do the appropriate thing) and it then worked after a GPUpdate /force on the test machines. So you may hit trouble.
eean Posted December 2, 2006 Posted December 2, 2006 I didn't even notice it had been installed until I opened it up, so no complaints here. (I already had the 'disable first run' thing set though).
