moodle and scorm

Can some point me in right direction in importing scorm resources into moodle..

can I suggest installing the Scorm module then uploading the Scorm content the same way as you would any other file? I'm about to try this myself later this week so I'd be interested to know if it works. Perhaps Dagza would be of more help?

Isn't the site so much faster at this time of the day?

So stupid question trying to upload the skoool resources so where do you upload them and how do you get them as part of a courses etc..

Sorry my dunce moment. Where are the SCORM modules on Skoool? do the downloadable exe's contain the packages or are they hidden away somewhere?

Sorry just got around to sorting this out...

 

 

If you download the modules http://lgfl.skoool.co.uk/common.aspx?id=601

 

This will install into C:\Program Files\skoool\uk\local skoool\Content a folder with the scorm stuff just got to get it working now...

 

Well it has imsmanifest file so trying it now..

Bump from the grave, did you get this working russ? I'm trying to jam some demo content into Moodle for staff to get a feel for it and I think I am finding the same problem you had. The download from Skoool gives you the files, I have zipped them up but it says there isn't a manifest file, when there is, or it says that it can't be deployed. Did you solve it?

I had something like this from a respectable publisher, managed to figure it out myself as they wouldn't help but can't remember how now, I'll take a look.

Here's how i do it:

 

My Moodle has the SCORM/AICC module installed which i think is a default activity in Moodle.

 

Click drop down - Add an Activity..... - Select SCORM/AICC

 

Fill in the Name and give it a Summary

 

Then in the Package Folder box click 'Choose or Upload a file', from here select the zipped up SCORM package that you might had uploaded previously to 'Files' or browse to your hard drive and locate the zip file.

 

Usually the SCORM files are quite large so i usually FTP to the file server and upload to the relevant folder - Much quicker!

 

Choose your zip file and thats about it, apart from choosing your grading method, number of attempts etc...

@DanIT: Tried that but I keep getting an error "Manifest not found". imsmanifest.xml is clearly there though.

Similar story here. These are excellent resources. I've uploaded the zip file for one course. I assume the imsmanifest.xml file is in there.

 

When selecting the zip file I am told that the manifest file cannot be found.

 

Any advice on this welcome,

[Edit - I have now unzipped the file on the server which in turn creates a new folder with all the course files in there. I can now choose the ismmanifest.xml file but all this does is display the XML in the right hand white box]

Are you using 1.9.3? They did a lot of work fixing SCORM in that version.

Im using Moodle 1.8, and the zip file works fine.

 

Perhaps somebody having problems could point us to a link where i can view one of the SCROM packages your having difficulties with? Upload to the 'Site Files' and provide a direct link then I can take a look?

Ok I used the file posted by TechMonkey,

 

First problem with the zip file posted, I always unzip the files locally before uploading the zip to Moodle, the zip file looked like:

 

C:\scormTest\uk_ks3_pytsc\files here....

 

The zip file should just be:

 

C:\uk_ks3_pytsc\files here...

 

Or it wont work....

 

Well I did the above, and it didnt work! So there goes my theory....

 

So I uploaded my new zip file with the correct structure as mentioned above, and unzipped it to Moodle in my course files section.

 

I then added a SCORM activity on the course page and when choosing the SCORM activity I wanted to use instead of selecting the SCORM file (ZIP) I navigated to the newly unzipped files and selected imsmanifest.xml file.

 

Hey Presto it worked!

Cool, ta. Just tried as well and got it sorted. V bizzare why it needs that but oh well. Starnge about your unzipping adding the zip filename too.

I'm gonna jump onto the end of this topic and change the subject slightly.

 

The skoool resources earlier - where are the SCORM packages within them? I have downloaded a couple of them to try but there's no .zip file

 

I also search for imsmanifest.xml and zipped up the contents of that folder - this worked for one but not the rest, and the one it did work for is missing the sound.

 

These look like really really really good resources so I would appreciate any help in getting my hands on them
