Hi Guys,

Ive got a 2008 R2 test domain with a Win7 Client and when I push software via GPO to the client it just says please wait with the spinny orb looking thing before it shows the logon dialogue.

Is there any way to change this to say what software its actually installing?

regards

I know with 2k3 if you change the name of the msi as in the image attached it changes what it says when the software is being installed.

thanks for the response, but its not that. It doesnt even say the usual 'Installing managed software blah blah'

In Group Policy, go to Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System, and set Verbose vs. normal status messages to Enabled.

It will then give you quite detailed messages about GP application, possibly more than you would ideally want, but it will tell you exactly what is being installed.

So, you can set your computer to 'verbose'?

I knew I could make my machines more like me if I tried hard enough...

Just testing now, thank you so much! :-)

I agree. It's annoying that they took away the software installation informational messages by default. While the GP setting brings this back, it also shows a little more information than most users would need to see.

I find that Verbose message are usefull for the end user as they know something is actually happening. Its a lot better than staring at "Please Wait..." not knowing wether it is infact loading or not.
