GrumbleDook Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 The job has now gone back online (staff changes in senior management meant no decision was previously made). Network Manager Job in Kettering NN15 7AA, Midlands UK This time it expires in 14 days! I'm not sure about whether previous applicants can re-apply, but have asked the question. 1
GrumbleDook Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 It has been confirmed that it is open to all previous applicants. Good luck to all who apply. 3
tech_guy Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Is there a typo where it has the salary on the Monster site? It says salary range £25,000 to £25,000 ?
tech_guy Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 So is that the salary? I've emailed but not had a reply yet.
GrumbleDook Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Yes, that is the salary. Monster always want a range and so you have to have it as both the start and end. I do not know what options for negotiation there are ... but will ask.
GrumbleDook Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 To clarify, the salary is £25k as the upper point, but some negotiation is possible.
Firefly_Transport Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Anybody else off to interview for this? Its my 2nd shot at it - They must be gluttons for punishment to have me back
GrumbleDook Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 @firefly_Transport and all others going for it ... the best of luck. 1
HarryMonkey Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Has anyone heard anything from this apart from the "thanks for your application, we're dealing with it" type email?
Firefly_Transport Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Has anyone heard anything from this apart from the "thanks for your application, we're dealing with it" type email? I have had email saying it was being processed &the times for the Interview - time to dust off the suit, spruce up & look depressed at how much grey/white hair was hidden under the top layers of my bonce
witch Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Good Luck! is that that the job AXE went for - didn't you go for the same job? 1
Firefly_Transport Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 We did indeed, it was a very pleasent process - would all interviews be so (and I can say that because I did after the last one ) The new boss looks like a change from the more tradtional 'pure' academic, with real world managment knowlage in the hotel biz, since I also came from commercial to education I have hopes that we would have matching ideas on how support systems should work & delivered. I guess I will find out soon, the interviews are tommorow. Having spent the last year renovating a house and running an eBay shop - it would be nice to get back in the daily grind. Was I correct in reading AXE has found somthing now? I hope thats working out well. Regards & thanks for the best wishes
HarryMonkey Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) Good luck with your interview. Shame they still have communications problems! Edited June 29, 2010 by HarryMonkey
GrumbleDook Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Good Luck! is that that the job AXE went for - didn't you go for the same job? I think it was something like 4 of the 5 interviewed last time were EG members ...
Firefly_Transport Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) I think it was something like 4 of the 5 interviewed last time were EG members ... Yes, we spent all the spare time talking 'geek' and generally being very friendly - it was very strange given we were going for a role at the place. I think that it improved the process though, we were kinda interviewing each other and thinking about the role - which in the end would benifit the interviewing school because the candidates have focused jointly on the roles needs. Self-interviewing candidates - now there is a concept for the 21st century Edited June 29, 2010 by Firefly_Transport I can't spell :D
Firefly_Transport Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Had the Interview - and now the wait for the result It was a good interview and I def like the way they do it. Looks like they want to take a rather unusal route to system security/monitoring - moving over to student responsibility & education of use. For instance opening YouTube up to site - Brave Lads I feel, but they seem happy to have the onus on the teachers to mind the matter.

An excellent approach and one we would very much like our RBC to adopt.
GrumbleDook Posted June 30, 2010 Author Posted June 30, 2010 Very much how I prefer to do it too ... but it relies on each individual school taking ownership of the issue rather than relying on the technology to do the work. Sometimes always putting it back to the LA / RBC is a cop out ... and since KSA does not connect to EMBC anymore (political decision ... not a reflection on EMBC) then they have that sole responsibility.

GrumbleDook Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 Well done that man ... of course, you will still get nagged to come along to the IT Managers' meetings ... and nagged even more so to bring Matt along. Let me know when you start.
