Does anyone on here use Equitrac, we are looking to go to a managed print solution at work and this piece of software looks like what we will be using but there is no free download trial we can get yet, still waiting for someone to get back to us.

We wouldn't mind having a gander at the software if possible.

I have used it but not for 2 years so it could have changed since then. It worked well for us. It integrates with AD (we had it configured so you logged on at copiers using AD credentials) and the company didn't throw up their hands in horror when we not only read stuff from the SQL database but wrote to it as well.

Googling for Equitrac trial software gives loads of hits so you should be able to find one (eg - Equitrac That's Australian but I think Kyocera UK also supply it) I do remember getting a trial version before we bought it.

Must be a common thing with photocopier companies as Ricoh use equitrac on the copiers they do as well - Equitrac express ( for education ), office and professional

I've emailed for a trial version, just waiting for our contact to get back to us.

We are looking to have various MFPs around and users been able to swipe cards and get their jobs, which I am told we can do.

Srochford, what did you think to the software, it is friendly to use and is it powerful in what it can do?

It was pretty good but this is at least one version ago (not sure of version numbers but I think we had version 3; version 4 was just coming out 2 years ago; don't know what version there is now)

Cheers for that Steve, hopefully there will be an email in my inbox from yesterday when I get in today with a trial. Looks impressive and lots of the companies are going on about it, just want to have a play now!

We had an online demo of this and it did look simple to use. Unfortuantly the amount it was going to cost was much more than it would save us over the year.

Matthew- how did you get on with this?

it is a good piece of software from our experience.

we are big Equitrac users here, lots of MFDs and printers all being audited.

Hi all, regarding Equitrac as discussed above. Yes it is a fantastic piece of software, I have personally installed this software in several schools and they have found it to be extremely useful especially in larger schools where the cost of software plus pcc's is recoverable over a period of time. I personally have found the external pcc's units with optional card readers etc to be more accurate when accounting. A few issues that I have come across over the last year or 2 are machines continuing to print even when account has hit £0.00 but this is not equiterac itself but third party software, hence preference to hard wired controllers.

hi Marco,

yes, we had this problem also . usually there are settings per reader, we have it with our external (Mifare) card readers to block at zero for students.

more for matthew this info, if you use a "print release" station then it works fine.. you can configure as needed.

(release station is basically a standalone PC for releasing prints securely).

Either method saves lots of money, paper, co2 etc stopping prints that you didn't need or print.

We reckon it saves our organisation about £80,000 per year now.

hi cismconn couldnt agree more. Pcc software has a few issues which hopefully manufacturers will sort out! But hard wired versions I prefer although more costly.

Hi Matthew, I'm sure you are aware that there are 2 versions of Equitrac, a sort of lighter version which will manage up to 10 MFPs and then the "full" version which is unlimited mfps, If you know in the near future you are going to be adding more mfps to the network then the "full version" would be the obvious choice. Will you be using card readers or pin entry on the stations as this can affect cost? If you have any other questions feel free to ask!
