CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Ahh thats why, the email addresses have changed too!! FARCE!!! Does anyone else find it takes 3 or more attempts to get to mail.myvle.org via the web ??
Little-Miss Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 That's what i thought....something isnt switched on my end cus i dont have the External accounts option...
dpittaway Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 You have to be in 'Advanced view' to get the External Accounts option. Is that it? Also, Link2ICT have now locked down all Zimbra emails for schools that have yet to transfer as they were causing problems apparently. So I now can't get into 3 of my 4 accounts. Great! 1
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 (edited) Does it look like this? Edit - beat me to it... advanced view lol. Just to reiterate to any L2ICT people viewing this... I know you are WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING??? All this info we should have had BEFORE you decided to start the migration!! Edited April 29, 2010 by CHR1S
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 wow, this is really messed up, check this out - LOL
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 When you finally get an IMAP connection to your old email, dont just sit there clicking "Get New Mail" like I did! You have to right lick the folder it creates and then select "Get New External Mail" D'oh!!

If you set it up so the mail goes into its own inbox, you can click in that inbox and the 'get mail' button at the top will change into a 'Get external mail' button. But the way you describe works fine too!
Little-Miss Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 http://web.harborne.bham.sch.uk/ can you see it?
Devontechie Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 nope... but Welcome to Harborne Primary School works
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 What steve said.... I think BGFL/L2ICT are having big DNS issues because of the migration, I would just wait it out and see what happens
Little-Miss Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Yeah i will do, i cant see Welcome to Harborne Primary School internally then...
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 thats probably your proxy settings doing that, or dns lol
Little-Miss Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 lol! We had this issue before easter when they were messing with their DNS servers. Its fine as long as you can see it externally.
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Leave my DNS alone you anyway! I still think your DNS needs a spring clean!
CHR1S Posted April 29, 2010 Author Posted April 29, 2010 Grrr, now peoples contacts have vanished from BGFL+
CHR1S Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Grr again.... they send the student accounts with no sorting information like class and/or year group! D'oh
Little-Miss Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Of course not....one lovely big list! Did we decide there was a way to stop the kids emails showing up in the Staff account list or vice versa?
CHR1S Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 We only took minimum information from the MIS. For students we took the YearOfEntry, FirstNam,SurName and staff FirstName,SurName. This information was agreed upon with all schools to retrieve from their MIS Was it, I dont remember being asked, first I knew was when the office manager told me they had remoted on and took the info! Complete lack of forward thinking/planning again!!
Tricky_Dicky Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 But why take only minimum information? Our CMIS system has every bit of information imaginable about our children including links to other siblings, current class, teachers etc. If they had taken a copy of more information surely they could have implemented a system that was easier to manage and implement! GRRRR..
CHR1S Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Exactly... its such a farce, considering all MIS data is unified (or should be) this is a step back! Do they think this level of planning will work roling out Shibboleth or another of thir pie in the sky plans??
ICTRambling Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 But why take only minimum information? Our CMIS system has every bit of information imaginable about our children including links to other siblings, current class, teachers etc. If they had taken a copy of more information surely they could have implemented a system that was easier to manage and implement! GRRRR.. Data Protection act prevents you from taking anything more than the minimum information necessary to carry out the task. Just 'cos the information is there, doesn't mean it can be legally shared!
