Fight in the Bird Box !!!!!!!!!!

A great tit popped into our bird box and started attacking the mother this morning. After we got the great tit out we thought the blue tit was dead but then it started to twitch & we are going to try and nurse it back to health as there are two eggs already in the box and from the size of her she will be dropping another one soon......

Fingers crossed for the next 24 hours - she is taking on water which is good and hopefully she will eat some food later we have put in.

Well she's better than she was - the fight was really nasty - in the end the mother ended up just covering her eggs whilst the great tit just went for the kill. Even when we bashed the side of the box the great tit wouldn't move. We ended opening up the box and having to prod the great tit with a ruler - [ 45 cm plastic ] a few times before it flew away......

We are going to call the Blue Tit Gloria Gaynor.

After some TLC we have released Gloria Gaynor back into the wild. She didn't want to go at first but then after we left her off she went. I very much doubt she will be back so I think the nest and eggs are now abandoned.
