Looks like all the necessary roles are auto-updated when 2010 is installed so only need to move Mailboxes (done) and the OAB (now done) Whats confusing now is references for the need to leave 2007 inplace for a while because when users first open outlook it goes to the 2007 server, which then redirects them to 2010... I need to get 2010 onto the primary server (currently 2007) as the current server (really just a PC) is slowing to a crawl, also OWA isn't working (it could be but my SSL Cert isnt configured for Server2...) DO I need to do this or can 2007 be removed now?
SYNACK Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) You can remove the exchange 2007 one now as long as all of the connectors, routing group masters, public folders and OAB stuff is on the EX02 box. As long as all the roles are transfered to the new box the worst that will happen is that users who have not logged in after their mailboxes were migrated will not be able to log on to outlook as it will look to the wrong server and not auto redirect. As this move is a precursor to putting it all back under the old name anyway that won't matter. You will want to leave the temp box running for a little while after you migrate back to direct user profiles back to the proper server though. Gatt Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Thanks Synack - just moving a few mailboxes that were missed (had to trim the pupil journal mailbox down a bit :-S) Once they are over I'll remove 2007 cos 2010 is killing this temp server!
