pete Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Would anyone mind running (ideally on Ubuntu 9.10, but not that fussed): time gvfs-mount smb://windowsserver/sharename and posting the time it takes to mount the share? (change windowsserver and sharename, obviously) I've got an issue on a box where a smb mount using gvfs takes 30 seconds against an AD-authenticated server, but a smb mount against a linux box using local auth on the linux box takes less than a second. Mounting either share on a Windows box (whether the windows box is joined to the domain or not) takes less than a second. DNS works properly both ways for fqdn and netbios names and use of one over the other doesn't improve mount speed and the logs are being a bit bare.
pete Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 ...and it's not related to directory tree depth/size either, same issue regardless of depth (one folder, one file in a share vs several hundred thousand in a share's directory tree).
