neilmc Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Just got a MAC off the shelf in the art room thought id have a play, but there is a password and i have no idea what it is. Is there a way I can crack a password on a mac? cheers
Domino Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 If you have a mac OSX install disk, you can boot from that and choose password reset. otherwise you'll have to boot to single user mode and use some unix commands Reset your lost OS X password - How To - Lifehacker
leco Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Part the way down this thread there's a link that might be useful.
neilmc Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Just managed to do it, its crazy ive created a new admin account on the mac from command and im straight in I can delete the other accounts, What the point in it being that simple?
Domino Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 As soon as you have physical access to any machine without a bios password its game over - not just macs
pete Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 As soon as you have physical access to any machine without encryption its game over - not just macs Because bios passwords aren't really even a speedbump unless you've got someone reliable who'll shout "Oi! Jenkins, get your mitts out of that computer".
