EduGeek now has an official Mumble server.

Here you can meet up for games or just to chat in general.

 

The details are:

mumble.edugeek.net

 

No password is required currently.

Please register by right clicking your username after connecting.

I have now. The error now is:

 

I had that myself, you have to do it manually

 

Click "Connections > connect"

 

Then copy and paste the details, add in your nickname and away you go!

Can it be used for general VOIP, i.e. me chatting to my parents abroad, or does it have to be whilst 'in-game'?

 

I guess what I'm asking, is it like Skype in some way?

it can be used for VOIP...latency is slightly better than SKYPE, but it doesn't have the camera function.

 

I use it so the mrs can talk to her dad in america

Yeh there appears to be a few dns issues which I am trying to fix but the server is online. You should be able to use the ip 85.236.100.27 instead for now.

Am I on the right server? Joined TS with those details and it's the "2nd Queens Royal Regiment of Foot" server! I'm CONFUSED!

I am new to mumble so it will take a bit of getting used to but at least it runs on our own server now.

If it doesnt work out I will sort out a TS3 later.

Read some about some pretty bad bugs in TS3 lately but I figured since mumble is free to run etc we could give it a try.
