IT_Man_Dan Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Morning all, I've got to upgrade to sql 2008 for sims. I'm just getting pricing in and I need to determine how many physical processors I have in the server, is there any quick software method for doing this? My server has Intel Xeon E5310 and in device manager it registers 8 processors, Does that mean that cos it's quadcore I'd have 2 physicals onboard? Thanks Dan
K.C.Leblanc Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 CPUID will tell you. I would expect it's a single quad core CPU. It's registering 8 cores because it uses hyper threading. Our twin 55xxs register 16 cores on ESX console. EDIT: Actualy you've probably got dual CPUs, my Q8200 reports as 4 processors in device manager.
