Vista still requires antivirus, Microsoft stresses

It's amazing that anyone could have believed that it would not have needed AV. I'm running OneCare on my home Vista machines and it's great. I hope that there will be a corporate edition of this some day.

I didn't realise that anyone other then M$ themselves and government organisations had access to the source code of windows?

Who else has access to it?

It's not the source code that's the issue; it's that MS had stopped software (apart from Windows itself) from hooking into the OS at low kernel level, required to "protect" it against attacks.

Anyone who pays enough. M$ make the code available to 'partners' (paying companies). The code is viewed under strict scrutiny and security.
