I have been tasked with trying to set up our ubuntu backup server which currently just has a copy of our Vm's and config files copied to each week - although they are backed up using backup exec system state etc inside the VM's. My boss would like me to set the server we have up so that he can copy the data over iscsi rather then just copying it over the network. I.e he would like it to be like a freenas box but using ubuntu so that we can have KVM installed and run some misson critical stuff if the main vm host servers go down. he seems to say that he knows it can be done, but from my google searches i can only see Iscsi initiator type software.

does anybody know what i will need to use? and indeed if it is possible

thats the kinda thing i was after, all my googleing seemed to only come back with initiators. this is my project for tomorrow, but no doubt the teachers will cause something to not work that will distract me!

is there any other ones that people know??
