2097 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Just to note the Italc website has a new release. Just installed on a different port than my UVNC and it not longer hogs the machine . ( it used to keep making the egg timer come up on the mouse every other second) Thinking of trying it out in a room. 1
soveryapt Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Darn it, the 1.0.10 Test Version host is blocked as its a 'personal page' I'll grab that tonight and see what new features we can look forward to! lol ..
BHMS Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 They fixed using a registry key to save the preferences file (not the one for the computer list, the one for everything else) in somewhere other than the users profile. Handy to have a standard setup for people in a particular suite. It always gave an error before complaining about write permissions even if they were set up correctly.
apeo Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 For some reason the master control software doesnt load. It loads the spash screen, closes splash screen and then nothing.
geloomis Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Do you have the link? can't find anywhere on sourceforge
apeo Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Its on the main home page under news, heres the link to the setup file: http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~doto/italc/italc-1.0.10-setup.exe I managed to get it working but on a clean system, the one i tried it on originally had an older version of italc and seems i cant get it to work with that one. 1

Any one monitoring CPU usage ? , any one getting a large jump ?
BHMS Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 I'm still using the beta version that was out a few months ago but it is a bit of a resource hog, tends to make the system hang a bit and crashes every now and then but that's beta software for you. It might even be that I'm running it on an NComputing solution so its running a few clients simultaneously. I had trouble installing the new release over the older beta version. Guess it's clean install or no install. Hopefully they will fix that for the official release because I really don't wan't to change my italc keys on all my systems.
2097 Posted March 25, 2010 Author Posted March 25, 2010 got it installed in a sweet , seems the CPU hog was just my old machine up stairs another question . got a master key and a private key If i goto another room and set the tutor machine up as a master , and import the Keys that i made on this master .. Will it all work ok ? Also what is the file location in which the room listings get stored , as each profile i try it on has a empty list except the one i installed on
BHMS Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Yeah that will work. If you want to be able to view everything from your machine you will need to import the key you created originally on every new machine you add, master or client. 1

I believe the reg key settings dont go in .. basically i just wanted to copy the exisiting keys over without having to import all the time . But looks like now ill have to make a registry vbscript.
BHMS Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 You can make the importing process faster if you login remotely to a bunch of machines and copy paste a network path where your exported keys are stored. The other option is create a logon script that copies the public key from your master to C:\Program Files\iTALC\keys\public

Which doesnt seem right as i assume it was automated. Paths are 100% correct ? Any insight Please.
2097 Posted March 25, 2010 Author Posted March 25, 2010 are you running on Windows 7? Nope just XP ..
geloomis Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Someone posted that they got it working and even provided screen shots of the workstations-but I don't see that post any longer. I have it working after a user logs in but not as a service, as an application in start up folder. I'd like to be able to have it start as a service so I can log into the workstations. I may try configuring the MTU settings because all I see is a black screen, (Aero is off)

I never used an install settings file but according to the wiki you want: \\server\share\italc\italc.x.x\setup.exe \\server\share\italc\italc.x.x\installsettings.xml
2097 Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 I never used an install settings file but according to the wiki you want: \\server\share\italc\italc.x.x\setup.exe \\server\share\italc\italc.x.x\installsettings.xml all the setup.exe for me does is start the Key config Menu.. and copys the key .. truslack Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I use a very messy install script for each type of user (Pupil, admin, teacher) The teacher script runs the install twice, with different settings, this is intentional: X:\italc\setup.exe settings.xml COPY x:\italc\CloseIE.exe "C:\Windows\System32\CloseIE.exe" COPY x:\italc\WebOn.exe "C:\Windows\System32\WebOn.exe" COPY x:\italc\WebOff.exe repository of config files so it copies the correct file for the room the teacher is logged on in. It may be a clunky way of doing it, but it works flawlessly on 500 clients, with about 30 teacher masters, and 4 admin masters and makes updating the classroom lists stupidly simple.
2097 Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 heres my final Version for Clients.. Made a test account with admin privs' , set the following for logon script Set shell=wscript.createobject("wscript.shell") shell.run "\\server\share\auto.bat" ( after install REMOVED the account) The above runs the follow .bat file XCOPY "\\server\share\italc" "C:\program files\italc" /E /k /I PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 5000 >NUL regedit /s "\\server\share\italc\reg1.reg" PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 5000 >NUL "C:\program files\italc\ica.exe" -quiet -registerservice PING 1.1.1.1 -n 1 -w 5000 >NUL NET START icas This installs the Client and also copys the Public Key . The next Script i Use for Tutors . So they have access to every machine . Option Explicit Dim oShell, oEnv, oFS, strDirectory, path Set oShell = CreateObject("wscript.Shell") set oFS = CreateObject("scripting.FileSystemObject") Set oEnv = oShell.Environment("Process") strDirectory = oEnv("USERPROFILE") & "\Application Data\Italc" if not oFS.FolderExists(strDirectory) then oFS.CreateFolder(strDirectory) path=CreateObject("WScript.Shell").ExpandEnvironmentStrings("%UserProfile%\Application Data\Italc") dim objFSO set objFSO=CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") If objFSO.FileExists(path & ("\globalconfig.xml")) = False Then objFSO.CopyFile "\\server\share\globalconfig.xml", path & "\" end if
2097 Posted August 19, 2010 Author Posted August 19, 2010 any one having problems with the latest version ? I can no longer Do multiple Logins .. If i try and logon to every machine using a designated account the control software crashes and wont reconnect the the Italc clients untill each one has been reset ? ( using windows 7 as the master computer ) ( XP as clients) Also student show demo still has the same problem as before , where as the teacher needs to click there screen to update the screen on each client ( But the students demo shows up perfect on the teachers machine) any one else got this latest one installed ?
camel Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I'm having the same problems with 1.0.10 including the issue of crashing the master and clients until reset. I also have an issue where the master app is closed and it locks the clients that are open, but clicking lock desktop, overview, demo full screen and demo window just doesn't seem to work correctly. created keys, master and clients talk to each other and the log off works great. Just blanks the desktop with no icons or task bar but mouse still available and moving. Any ideas?
camel Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Also noticed 1.0.11 is available which resolves a locking mouse issue which I didn't seem to have a problem with.
brejen Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 For some reason the master control software doesnt load. It loads the spash screen, closes splash screen and then nothing. I'm having the same problem... I disabled my windows firewall and Symantec Endpoint protection still no luck.
