UPS Batteries – Any know a company who will take them away?

Does anyone know of a company who are based in the North West who will collect UPS Batteries for free from Rochdale?

Could you not pop them in to your local tip? Or ask your caretakers how they usually dispose of batteries... there's no difference between the batteries you put in a clock and the batteries in an UPS when it comes to disposal.

Tip wont take them as it is not domestic waste. Caretaker inst interested....

I'm sure if you leave it outside your office in a box labelled something like "300 hr laptop battery" then it'll soon go missing!

Can't you just pay? I really have no issues spending money on WEEE collections and disposal, it's really not that expensive. Just have to make sure you don't exceed any hazardous waste allowances.

Well i was told rather than pay, stick them in that cupboard.

Our caretaker takes ours to the local tip and puts them with the car batteries. Never had a problem.

Just take them yourself to the tip and if questioned say there from your radio controlled jeep or something like that. If you say there from work then you will get chared but if there personal waste you can get rid that way.

 

If you got new ones from APC they usually have a sticker and details for them to collect them free anyway.

Apc is not free. They want you to courier them

to a place that disposes of them for free. No free shipping though.

As suggested a few times above, just take them to the tip yourself and don't let on that they're from work. Dodgy, but it works.
