OnlineOCR is a free site where you can convert images, PDF docs and more into editable text or Word files.

 

Free Online OCR service allows you to

 

Recognize

 

text and characters from PDF scanned documents (including multipage files), photographs and digital camera captured images. Service allows users to select 28 languages to recognize multilingual documents.

 

Convert

 

OCR results directly to your favorite formats including Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Rtf, Html and Txt. Converted documents look exactly like the original - tables, columns, bullets and graphics.

Store

 

OCRed files online in your secure workspace. Also you can download these files on your PC, edit text and print.

 

Maximum file size for the guest user: 1 Mb.

 

Registration will give you access to additional features not available to guest users: recognize large images, ZIP archives and multipage PDF, choose recognition languages, convert into editable formats and other settings.

 

I have experimented with several PDFs [not particularly challenging ones] and it coped quite well. I was quite impressed and when I can find some I will try PDFs which include special characters to see how it handles them.

Thanks for your sharing, wonderful PDF to Word converter free tools, and sometime, besides converting pdf to text, I also want to convert image to text with some free ocr tool, do you have some advice?
